Lust Item of the Week: Poivre Samarcande

Burning pepper rounded with mellow wood. Vibrant, caressing, intriguing.

"A massive, beautiful oak tree once grew in front of my house, blocking our view of the Mediterranean. Eventually, it grew ill and was felled. The peppery, musky, slightly smoky scent of the cut wood etched itself in my memory. The soul of the old oak, mixed with pepper, lives on in this fragrance. The name Samarcande is an homage to the city through which spice caravans once passed on their way from East to West."
Jean-Claude Ellena

Here's a tip: Never spray something this good, this rich, this intense, this divine in your hand bag! I was at the cash register when I picked up the tester and nonchalantly sprayed two spritzes into my handbag. Result: I still smell this and WANT IT!! The dry down is so heavenly!! I wanna smell this good for fall. Won't accept anything else.

Eid Mubarak to the Muslim World.

My little treat is a bottle of this sweet stuff!

Hotspot: Maison Moschino Milan

Envy has struck me like an ugly shock-wave. How could I have missed this?? Its fab, gorge, divine. All the "chic" adjectives I can think of can't describe the ______ je ne sais quoi of this place! I foresee, in my not too distant future, a trip to fashionable Milano, where I will indulge my tush in this lap of luxury! I'm talking a week long stay at this fancy shindig! Giant red velvet ball gown beds? Yes please! Light and airy white paper box room? Why not! Strawberry and Pear tart pillows? Whimsical genius! Just check it out for yourself. I'm sure you'll agree with me!

Not to mention what chef Moreno Cedroni has in store at the daringly surreal Clandestino restaurant. This is one dream trip I'd like to see come to fruition. Any volunteers?

Lip Balm Crush

Yes, I'm that girl. The girl who reapplies lip balm a lot. I can't help it. I've succumbed to the drug. Hey, it promises soft, luscious lips! Now who wouldn't want that? Strings attached? Maybe. A little. Ok ok, so if I don't reapply, my lips get parched. Thats the hype I bought into, and thats the price I have to pay. So I'm constantly on the look out for new, uber-cool lip goodies I can buy from the industry that manipulated me to purchase them from.

Lo and behold, The Vitamin Water Balms!!! I literally rush to a fridge full of yummy vitamin waters, so naturally I went bonkers when I saw these! They are just. So. COOL. Plus, they're SPF 20!! If I were 13 years old right now I'd...well who am I kidding, I'm behaving exactly like my 13 year old self. Some things never change. I want these I want these, I WANT! You hear that universe? Bring the yummy-ness to my door step.

Oh and uh Lip Smackers...Whatever you thought we had, yeah, its over. kthnxbye!

Little Black Flats

I only have two shoe kinds that I slip on; on rotation. Summer: Havaianas; Winter: Vans.
Recently, I discovered that I lacked the "proper shoe". It is a simple shoe, one that fits almost any outfit and can easily aid you in formal functions or casual company. So just like the LBD (Little Black Dress) is key in any wardrobe, it has come to my attention that a Little Black Flat is just as important. And I'm using the term "little" very loosely; I'm a size 41.

So here are some I found whilst scouring net-a-porter.com. All very covetable:-

How very fetching, is this Bally one?

A flat Louboutin will do, since I still can't walk in heels.

These Jimmy Choo flats have a pretty buckle detail.

I personally like Tory Burch's logo. Don't know about the gold though.

and Marc by Marc Jacobs is back to being whimsical again. Yay!

Lego

I was never a real fan of the Danish invention, but I did enjoy building a few towers and knocking them down! But now that Lego have created these new fun pieces as a 30 year anniversary of Lego People, I can't help but feel childish and I want one I want one I want one!! Oh what devilish debauchery will Lego Winehouse be up too now? Muhahaha >:p I say by creating a toy of her they are going against the company name, which literally means, "play well." Naughty naughty. Do kids even know who she is?! Then I rest my case, these toys are for us; let the fun "icing sugar" snorting time begin!

Diptyque

My love for candles is no secret. I recall one summer walking past a Yankee Candle store, ubiquitously found in the States, and stopping dead in my tracks to inhale. I'm sure you've been there too. Candles are a small luxury to the senses. As a kid I used to go no where near them, as an adolescent I would test my pain threshold by dipping my finger in its molten hot wax. But as an *cough cough* adult I burn them for pure olfactory pleasure.

It was only a matter of time before I traded my Yankees for Diptyques. It was such a major upgrade that I can not remember how I ever found joy in over-perfumed jarred candles. Every self respecting home understands the importance of a Diptyque candle; slowly releasing its essence into the room. Everything from the packaging, to the scent is sublime! However, I do not recall my first candle sniffing experience with the French establishment, but I know how comfortable I feel whenever I light one of their creations. They truly possess a transporting quality that I have seldom found in other candle makers.

My favorite above all is the Figuier. Rightly so, it is one of the three top selling candles that they've produced. Very homey, very green, and a one way ticket to some Grecian getaway. Never has the scent of fig enchanted the world such as this. Or at least, enchanted me.

The top selling one (and my mom's personal favorite) is Tubereuse. When I choose to bestow the gift of Diptyque to someone I always pick this crowd pleaser. Not many would agree to my personal choice so this one fits the bill of the basic Diptyque 101 course. It is derived from a Mexican bulbous herb and has a very sensuous heady scent. Surprisingly so, it is the most expensive floral perfume ingredient in the world. The quality is unsurpassed.

And finally, the Feu de Bois is one worth mentioning. I don't think anyone else has come close to capturing the exact scent of a fire place better than these guys. This is the real transporter. In the winters, I sit in my desert home, light this candle and in seconds, I find myself in the Alps. It's the best thing I can do in winters of a minimum of 7 degrees and a maximum of room temperature. The rare 1 or 0 is a haphazard circumstance.

My Figuier is down to its last two hours. Time to give the store a little visit :)
